12 days: The best of Kenya safari

Day 1: Nairobi - Sweet Water

Depart from Nairobi after breakfast for the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. It is one of the only primate game reserves in Kenya and provides visitors with a unique combination of facilities and activities. Here you can enjoy special activities not permitted in the Kenyan national parks and reserves such as escorted game walks, horse-back riding or night game drives. You will also be able to see the Chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight at your camp / lodge.

Day 2: Sweet Water - Samburu

Have breakfast, drive to Samburu National Reserve, arrive in time for lunch at your camp / lodge. After lunch take a game drive in the park. In this reserve you have the chance to spot Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, the rare desert species of Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe and Grevy's Zebra. Dinner served at your camp / lodge.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve

On this day you do your game driving in the Shaba Game Reserve which features rocky battlements, dry river beds, extensive thorn shrub and the backdrop of the distant hills of the Nothern Frontier District. As for wildlife, the area provides one of the few sanctuaries in Kenya for the endangered Grevy's Zebra, the rare Beisa Oryz and the blue-shanked Somali Ostrich, while large herds of Elephants roam the hills. A visit to a Samburu village will be ideal. All meals at your camp / lodge.

Day 4: Samburu - Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, drive to Nakuru to arrive in time for lunch at your camp / lodge. After lunch go on game drive to see flamingos and perhaps a Lion. Lake Nakuru is a Rhino sanctuary, but you can see many other species like Zebra, Buffalo, Elephant and Giraffe. Dinner and over night at your camp / lodge.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara

Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve after your breakfast, to arrive in time for lunch at your camp / lodge. After lunch either relax, take a guided nature walk, or take a game drive in this world-famous reserve. Offering an abundance of herbivores, the Mara makes the ideal hunting ground for Kenya's famous "big cats" and hosts her largest population of Lions. It also offers the best chance of spotting a Leopard in the wild. Other predators include Cheetah and Spotted Hyena. All meals at your camp / lodge.

Day 6: Masai Mara National Reserve

Take morning and afternoon game drives, or take guided nature walks. Histrorically teaming with wildlife, the Mara is famous for the large herds of Wildebeests and Zebras that meander its plains; also for the fat pods of Hippos that wallow in its mud-brown rivers. Other stars include the distinctive Masai Giraffe, plum-coloured Topi, Coke's Hartebeest, Grant' and Thomson's Gazelle, Elephant, Buffalo, Impala, Kirk's Dik-Dik, Bushbuck, Waterbuck and red Duiker. The reserve also boasts plentiful Nile Crocodile, Monitor Lizard, Baboon, Vervet-, Blue- and Red-tailed Monkeys, nocturnal Bush Babies and Tree Hyrax. There are over 550 resident and migratory species of birds. Meals at your camp / lodge.

Day 7: Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha

After your breakfast drive to Naivasha to arrive in time for lunch at your camp / lodge. Afternoon boatride to Crescent Island. This is a submerged rim of an immerged volcanic crater, forming a bay which is the deepest point of the lake. The crescent Island is a preserved sanctuary of wildlife, where you can wander among tiny herds of mammals. A peaceful experience.... Giraffe, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Gazelle, Eland, Zebra and lots of birds. All meals and over night at your camp / lodge.

Day 8: Lake Naivasha - Amboseli

Drive to Amboseli after breakfast. Arrive in time for lunch at your camp / lodge. After lunch enjoy a game drive in Amboseli, with the chance of spotting large herds of Elephants and plentiful plains game against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. As the sun sets, enjoy exclusive sundowners overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro, followed by dinner at your camp / lodge.

Day 9: Amboseli National Park

Take a morning game drive in the park, which is a reserve featuring the dried-out lake bed of the prehistoric Lake Amboseli, rolling savana and lush green swamps. The plains offer numerous antelopes, Spotted Hyenas, Jackals, Warthogs, Olive Baboons, Vervet Monkeys and the chance of spotting a Lion, Leopard or Cheetah. Observation Hill, a conical peak, which is easily climbed, offers stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch take another game drive or a guided nature walk. You may also wish to visit an authentic Maasai village with displays of dance, song and cultural pursuits. Dinner served at your camp / lodge. 

Day 10: Amboseli - Tsavo West

Take an early breakfast, then proceed to Tsavo West to arrive in time for lunch at your camp / lodge. Chief among Tsavo West National Park's attractions is the marvel of Mzima Springs, replenished with two hundred and twenty million liters of crystal clear water every day, from the underground streams stemming from the lava massif known as the Chyulu Hills, 40 - 50 km away. Meals and over night at your camp / lodge.

Day 11: Tsavo West - Tsavo East

After your breakfast proceed to Tsavo East National Park. The sight of dust-red Elephants wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight-blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images of Africa that you will experience in Tsavo East. The beautiful Aruba Dam located on the north bank of the seasonal Voi River is visited by thousands of animals and a great game viewing destination. In addition, the heat-shimmering edge of Yatta Plateau is the longest lava flow in the world - at 300 km in length - and an ornithological paradise that attract migrating birds from all over the world. All meals and over night at your camp / lodge. 

Day 12: Tsavo East - Nairobi

After breakfast leave the park with game viewing and drive back to Nairobi. Drop off at the airport or at your Nairobi hotel.
